Weekend food update….
Just wanted to give a food update, because hey, that’s what this blog is mainly about. We layed low this weekend. But, I cooked as usual. I always seem to be cooking. I guess, that’s a good thing.
Friday I made a broccoli cheeze soup. It was quite tasty. Little Bear loved it. Boogie was indifferent. I served it with some homemade bread. I added some fresh rosemary from our little porch herb garden. The boys loved the bread. I think they are carbaholics. Honestly, what’s not to love about bread?
Saturday is usually leftover day. We cleaned out the fridge, one thing I can’t stand, is wasting food. There are so many people starving and food should not be wasted.
Today, I made chocolate Elvis pancakes. They were peanut butter, banana, chocolate pancakes. Mmmm!
For dinner this evening, I made Southern fried seitan, spicy collard greens, mashed potatoes and gravy. Definitely comfort food, the kind of meal that does the heart good, not literally, but figuratively.
One of dear friends lives a street over and is very kind to us, so kind that she even shares a section of her yard with us so we can have a garden. Where we live we have virtually no yard, just a spot for the pups to take care of business and a back porch. Anyway, we went and weeded the garden late this afternoon. It is looking great. I harvested some swiss chard, chinese cabbage, serrano peppers, and jalapeno peppers. I can’t wait to harvest some more homegrown, organic vegetables.
Well, I am off to relax with my wee fellows. There is not much to post, we are still mourning the loss of our dear loved one. Hopefully, things will be back to normal again soon. Have a lovely Monday.
